Well, had to write something on 12/12/12. I haven’t been very dedicated to my journal this year or any type of blogging. I do reflect mentally a lot of the time, however. I guess part of the reason I have done less writing is that things are good. Guess I should always also reflect in writing on the good as it is a reflection of gratitude. This has really been a great year. The extended family is doing well and personally I have done better about meeting goals this year that most any. My running mileage is higher that any year in recent history if ever. I think this is an accomplishment at 53. I have been more consistent this year. Probably would have had much higher mileage last year than this had I not had a femur stress fracture, which pretty much limited my running to half a year. I am however this year doing enough to stay in excellent shape and keep my head “right”.
I must say that I am extremely proud of both my son and daughter. Rad has really done well participating in sports and he is doing fairly well in school, though I doubt he will be near a Rhode Scholar. Amanda graduated and is working for the “Y”, while looking for a professional position and is currently interviewing for one. Grandson Caden unbelievably continues to grow at a rapid pace, when he at just now three is as big as some 5 year olds.
Christmas is on top of us. Though not religious, I do love the story and the meaning of the season. I wish that all Christians practiced the teachings instead of perverting the religion with their own ideas. Well, this is a special day. There will never be another with consecutive numbers like 12/12/12. Then again they are all special. I will do my job at work today. Go to the gym and do my 4 miles on the treadmill and come home and enjoy my family. Sounds like a good day.

Now I am Kicking

The stress fracture is history (I think) and I am once again in full training mode, though cautious. Did a 10K training run in under 2 hours yesterday at a 9:35 pace, so I am actually a bit ahead of my perceived training ability now. I did 5-4-6 mile runs this week, so I am doing ok. There is no pain in my thigh and that is a good sign, though I can still tell some difference.

I am watching my diet now and trying to maintain it so that I lose about 8 more lbs, to get at an ideal weight to continue my running and active life. Life is good.

Today, I am going to my sons two soccer friendlies in Franklin and will be coaching since his other team is in a tournament in AL. Think it will be loads of fun today. Well, I know it will.
